Introduction: Becoming Japanese
You are going to become Japanese for this lesson, and
discover and learn about many things Japanese. You will be writing your
name in Japanese, choosing an authentic Japanese name, and studying a way
of life.
The Task
-
Through "Becoming Japanese," you and your group members
will learn more about Japanese culture, language and history.
-
Working together, you and three other students will be
following four different roles in Japanese society.

You will be choosing a role, following World Wide Web
links.
-
As you learn, you will be filling in a workhseet.
-
Your grade depends on that worksheet and a group oral
presentation and group poster, presenting what you have learned
Resources
Depending on what role you choose, you will be following
several WWW links having to do with Japan.
The Process
You will go through several steps.
#1: As you follow each Web link, and follow directions,
you will be filling in your worksheet. Click
here for the WORKSHEET and PRINT it out.
#2: You will choose a role from these four:
#3: For each role, there are many links to follow. You
must follow all the links labeled "required."
Evaluation
Your evaluation has two forms. The first is a worksheet
you will be filling out as you work. The other will be a group presentation,
where you and the members of your group present a poster and oral presentation
about what you have learned.
Conclusion
Students will have gained general information about different
areas of life in Japan.
